Workshops and Retreats

Workshops – whether ½ or full day – offer an introduction to a subject or serve as a means of deepening one’s skills and knowledge without the commitment required by a weekly class.  Along with retreats, they can provide oases of peace within the framework of our busy and frequently pressured lives.  We hope many of you will join us on these very special journeys of discovery.

Please note that bookings and payments for all workshops and retreats must be made by 1pm on the Friday before the workshop or retreat.

Children’s Holiday Class

Wednesday 21 August 09.30-15.30 Holiday YogiMe with Lydia Challis Radiant Child Yoga 1 & 2.  This extended holiday YogiMe session for kids aged 5-11 yrs will incorporate all of the favourite elements of storytelling, song and yoga moves with some fun games and crafts. Cost: £35

Retreat

Sunday 1 September 09.15 for 09.30-12.30 Sensory Retreat with Rebecca Skeel IYN Yoga; Liz Burchill BA Hons MIFPA FHT
Aromatherapist; Pam Mullett and Jurek Dabrowski of Sound & Silence Resonant Healing.  This is an exquisite, multi-sensory mini-retreat. It will incorporate, each in turn, breathwork and
restorative movement from Slow Flow Yoga; a teaching session on aromatherapy oils and their use; and a sound bath sonic immersion experience using gongs and singing bowls – all designed to promote calm and deep relaxation.  Cost: £35 including refreshments

 

Family Yoga

Saturday 21 September 15.30-16.30 Family Yoga with Lydia Challis. Based on our popular YogiMe class, these family yoga sessions (suitable for all ages) are a lovely way to connect and spend time together as a family.  The sessions combine stories, song and yoga poses and finish with time to relax and enjoy a calm space together with your children. (Not suitable for children under 2 1/2 yrs.)  Cost: £5 per person

Dance

Saturday 28 September 14.30-17.30 Five Rhythms® with Ruth Hirst Accredited 5Rhythms® Teacher.  There is a dance inside each and every one of us that is uniquely our own, waiting to be expressed. So whether you are a first timer, or a passionate dance addict, come let’s dance! You can’t get this practice wrong – it’s your way of moving in the moment.  Cost: £30

Parent Forum

Parent Forum Anxiety in Early Years Monday 30 September 9.30 for 10.00-11.30 Parent Forum – Anxiety in Early Years (0-5 years) with Becky Wilburn of NESSie.  This forum is designed to give parents of young children the opportunity to explore and discuss the issues around anxiety. The aim of the session is to help develop a better understanding of feelings and the ways in which parents can support children develop confidence and resilience. This session is also suitable for professionals working with young children.  Cost: £8

Relaxation

Sunday 22 September 10.00-12.30 Relaxation through Self-Awareness with Marcia da Silva Pinto MRSS DTM.  This workshop is based upon the work of Thérèse Bertherat, a celebrated French physiotherapist, who showed that pressure points can release physical constraints and reawaken dormant muscles to restore health and harmony. While the workshop can bring often profound health benefits to all, it can be of especial help to people with back or other injuries as well as those experiencing anxiety or sleep deprivation. Saturday 12 October 14.00-17.00 Introduction to Sound Healing for Mindful Listening and Wellbeing with Pam Mullett and Jurek Dabrowski of Sound and Silence Resonant Healing.  This is an interactive introductory 3-hour workshop on using sound for meditation and wellbeing. You will have the opportunity to try some of the instruments used in our sound baths such as singing bowls, gongs and frame drums. All the instruments are played intuitively so no previous experience of playing is needed. If you have your own drum, please bring it along.  NB: Sound Baths are not recommended during the first and last three months of pregnancy, if you have a pacemaker or metal implants or experience epilepsy or other types of seizures, have a sound sensitive condition such as Labyrinthitis or Meniere’s Disease. EFT

Sunday 13 October and Sunday 10 November 10.30-17.00 EFT for Eating Disorders – a two day workshop with Tanya Lovett Advanced EFT Practitioner.  EFT has been shown to have a profound, positive effect on the suffering of people with an eating disorder. This workshop, whose size is limited to 6, offers a safe space to explore and release many aspects of your eating disorder. We will explore and help you free yourself from the drive to restrict your food, the impulse to binge or the compulsion to make yourself sick or over-exercise. If you haven’t tried EFT for your bulimia, anorexia or binge-eating disorder, you might just want to see what it can do for you. T’ai Chi

Sunday 13 October 9.30 for 10.00-13.00  “T’ai Chi – the Magic of Movement” with Ian Deavin, a certified instructor of the Chinese Internal Arts Association and a member of the T’ai Chi Union of Great Britain.  T’ai Chi practitioners often describe the feeling of moving their bodies as magical, and the experience of long term T’ai Chi practice can certainly be described as developmental. Ian’s workshop will introduce beginners to the simple ideas underlying this popular but little understood art. Longer term practitioners can expect to be helped on their path and perhaps achieve further insights on their own developmental journey.  Cost: £35 includes refreshments

Yoga

Saturday 19 October 14.00 for 14.30 to 17.30 Yin is In with Neelam Rajani BWY  Yin Yoga is all about finding stillness – which comes from this very slow and meditative practice where poses are held for long-ish periods. You will find yourself more flexible, wonderfully relaxed and more mindful. Suitable for all levels – including beginners. Cost: £35 includes refreshments

Moving Mindfully

Sunday 20 October 9.45 for 10.00-16.30 Easing into Autumn with Judy Hammond BEd ANATD MSTAT Make the most of autumn’s creative energy with a rich mixture of slow movement, rest and simple dance sequences. In this joyous, confidence-building and empowering workshop, the body is worked holistically and old energy and emotions are released. Cost: £65 including lunch and refreshments

Musical Relaxation

Saturday 2 November 14.15 for 14.30-15.15 Drift Away Harp Relaxation with Julia Mitchell.  Drift Away sessions are designed to provide a space for you to leave normal life behind and completely relax to the sound of the small theraphy harp.  Bring a mat, pillow and blanket and take the time to rest.  Cost: £14

Sound Bath

Workshop for Women

Sunday 17 November 9.45 for 10.00-16.30 Workshop for Women: Posture and the Pelvic Floor with Judy Hammond BEd ANATD MSTAT  Pelvic floor toning can often be wearisome and hard work! In this valuable workshop, we will examine the essence of the classic PF exercises and learn to practice them with less effort but greater effectiveness. Saturday 23 November 14.00-17.00 Introduction to EFT with Tanya Lovett Advanced EFT Practitioner  Have you heard of EFT or tapping? Are you intrigued by it and want to know more? This workshop will teach you about the history of Emotional Freedom Techniques, what it’s been used for and show you how to use this self-help tool in your own life to reduce stress, tension and physical pain.
