Ballet for Adults

You will dance, get fit and have great fun in this popular Ballet for Adults class which includes barre work (for greater flexibility and balance), centre work (for toning) and simple ballet routines.  Open to anyone over 16.  The class is from Grade 4 level.  The ballet training follows the method taught by the Royal Academy of Dance.  Examinations are available for students and there may be opportunities to appear in shows.

Adult Ballet for Beginners

If you’ve always wanted to do ballet this is the perfect class for you to begin with.  You will develop
strength, flexibility and better posture. Open to anyone over 16.  The ballet training follows the method taught by the Royal Academy of Dance.  Examinations are available for students and there may be opportunities to appear in shows.Any dance shoes or bare feet are suitable.

New! Starting in September

Beginners Pointe (12+ years)

(To be taken in conjunction with your regular ballet class)

Suitable for those with at least three years of recent ballet training, who have developed a strong technique.  Also suitable for dancers recovering from an injury, or advanced students who want to further strengthen their technique.

These sessions will introduce you to pointe work at a pace that allows you to understand how to execute the basic exercises correctly and safely.  An effective way to strengthen legs and improve the arches in your feet. Thus, many male dancers attend pointe class regularly.

Am I ready?

You should be able to do:

  • Passe (retire) on demi-pointe with a straight pulled up knee.
  • Grand plie in the centre to standing with knees straight, no wobbling and without altering foot positions.

If it’s your first time on pointe and you are not sure if the shoes fit, do not sew the ribbons on so they can be checked and exchanged if necessary. 

 

Silver Swans

Fun and accessible, these classes will help improve your mobility, posture, coordination, and energy
levels, no matter how old you are.  While, specially designed for older learners with a range of abilities all ages are welcome. Tea and biscuits follow.

Any dance shoes or bare feet are suitable.

Progressing Ballet Technique

This class will teach you how to engage the correct muscles in order for you to dance
safely and correctly. Core stability, weight placement and alignment will all be
enhanced as you perform the exercises. A perfect warm up to your ballet class!
