Workshops and Retreats

Workshops – whether ½ or full day – offer an introduction to a subject or serve as a means of deepening one’s skills and knowledge without the commitment required by a weekly class.  Along with retreats, they can provide oases of peace within the framework of our busy and frequently pressured lives.  We hope many of you will join us on these very special journeys of discovery.

Please note that bookings and payments for all workshops and retreats must be made by 1pm on the Friday before the workshop or retreat.

Sound

Friday 20 December 18.00-19.15 or 19.30-20.45 Winter Solstice Sound Bath with Pam Mullett and Jurek Dabrowski of Sound & Silence Resonant Healing.  Join us as we celebrate the Winter Solstice, the turning of the sun when days slowly begin to lengthen. We invite you to journey with sound as we play our gongs, singing bowls and other instruments and then have a warming cup of mulled juice and some energy bites. NB: The contra-indications for sound baths are:
Sound Baths are not recommended during the first and last three months of pregnancy, if you have a pacemaker or metal implants or experience epilepsy or other types of seizures, have a sound sensitive condition such as Labyrinthitis or Ménière’s Disease. Kid’s Holiday Yoga Camp

Monday 23 December 9.30-16.00 (with the option of wrap around care).  Happy Little Yogi Holiday Camp for children aged from 4-12 years. Join us for fun yoga days during school holidays! Together, we will enjoy a variety of yoga games, moving meditations and yoga poses.  Using our breath, we will blow bubbles to create our safe space and take us on a relaxation journey.  We work with a daily theme to create a unique yoga routine to energise the body, create a happy calm mind and peace within.  When taking a break from our yoga practice, there will be time for creative arts & crafts activities. Attendees will need to bring a water bottle, lunch, snacks (no nuts), wear comfortable clothing and bring a change of clothes. Cost: Full day – 9.30-16.00 – £25  Half day morning – 9.30-12.45 – £18 Half day afternoon – 12.45-16.00 – £18 Lunch 12.00-13.00  Option of wrap around care – £5 per hour from 8.30-9.30 and again from 16.00-17.00.  all attendees will need to bring a packed lunch

Harp Relaxation

Friday 10 January 20.00 for 20.15-21.00 Drift Away Harp Relaxation with Julia Mitchell. Julia is a qualified therapeutic harp practitioner who uses melody, tempo, mode and harmony to bring about a deep sense of relaxation.  Participants simply make themselves comfortable on the floor or on a chair and drift away to the beautiful sound of the harp.  Bring a mat, pillow and blanket and take the time to rest.  Cost: £14 followed by refreshments by Nourish

 

 

 

Retreat

Sunday 19 January 09.30-16.30 Silent Retreat with Dr Neelam Taneja PhD, Member IAYT, Life Fellow  RSM. This retreat, led by an experienced and skillful guide, will use mindfulness meditation to support us to inhabit the stillness and wonder which we can find deep within through silence.  Cost: by donation. Yoga

Chi Kung

Saturday 25 January 14.00 – 17.00 Chi Kung for Energy and Wellbeing with Chris Nutley. Chi Kung is a system of gentle exercise, slow flowing movement and breathing techniques designed to  stimulate and balance the flow of Chi or energy through the body. Practised world-wide, Chi Kung can greatly benefit wellbeing and vitality. Relaxation

Sunday 26 January 10.00-12.30 Relaxation through Self-Awareness with Marcia da Silva Pinto MRSS DTM. Based on the legacy of French physiotherapist Therese Bertherat, this workshop will take you through a series of precise, gentle and organic movements to release constraints, reawaken dormant muscles, increase your body perception and sharpen your senses. It will explore the main pressure points to create harmony within the body. Everyone is welcome, especially those with back or other injuries, or who are suffering from anxiety, depression or sleep deprivation.  Cost: £20

Alexander Technique

Sunday 9 February 09.30 for 09.45-16.30 Practical Alexander Technique with Judy Hammond BEd ANATD MSTAT.  Learning and practising basic principles of how to move and “use” our bodies can prevent backache and tense shoulders and necks. They are simple and fun to do – and are as important for our wellbeing as the manual of a car is for understanding how to drive it! This essential workshop will provide information and the opportunity to practice an approach to all everyday movements (as well as to those involved in specialised sports, dance, musicianship, etc) which can literally change your life.  Cost: £65.00 includes lunch and refreshments by Nourish

Saturday 22 February 09.00-13.00 Yoga Warrior with Brendan Murphy ERYT YA 500 hours. This workshop will examine the technique, mythology, and psychology of the Warrior poses and offers an intensive yoga class and a Nourish vegan brunch in addition. Saturday 7 March 14.00-17.00 Yin for Spring with Neelam Rajani BWY. Yin Yoga is all about finding stillness – which comes from this very slow and meditative practice where poses are held for long-ish periods. Feldenkrais

Saturday 14 March 13.30-17.30 Feldenkrais – Free your neck, shoulders and spine with Juliana Brustik Fully qualified Feldenkrais Method and Bones for Life Practitioner. The Feldenkrais approach is a method of education which profoundly increases our body awareness and addresses underlying patterns that cause everyday movements to become uncomfortable and sometimes painful.
