Pilates is a body conditioning programme which helps build strength, flexibility, control and endurance – emphasising alignment, breath and development of a strong core.

NB: Certain health problems could preclude participation in classes. All new bookings will be subject to verbal screening from the instructor before being accepted on a course.
Beginners
This course will introduce Pilates principles during the first sessions and then will cover basic Pilates exercises thereafter.
Beginners/Improvers
Basic exercises with more advanced options for those who have been studying Pilates for longer. Pilates principles will be reviewed in the first session.
Improvers Pilates
Suitable for those who have been at beginners’ level for more than three terms or by agreement with the class teacher. The programme offers a mixture of basic Pilates exercises with progressions to take students up to intermediate level exercises.
Intermediate Pilates
These classes are suitable for students without injuries and illnesses and by agreement with the class teacher.

Pilates classes are being held at the Letchworth Centre with COVID-secure safety guidelines in place. Strict hygiene measures will be adhered to in the building, with hand-sanitisers, scrupulous cleaning and social distancing in place. Further details will be sent to you regarding what you can expect after you have enrolled on the course.

New class – Pilates with Sherryl Chatfield
During these mixed ability classes you will learn how to engage your core muscles to do progressively more challenging exercises. You will be facilitated to go at your own pace and at a level you are comfortable with. Any movement limitations or injuries will be accommodated within the class. Tuesdays at 19.30. Online Pilates on the Ball
The exercise ball is a wonderful Pilates tool for improving core strength and developing the abdominal and back muscles. Exercising ‘on the ball’ – which continually moves slightly beneath you as you work – can also increase overall flexibility and mobility. And it’s such fun to do! (You will need to provide your own ball.)
