During the COVID crisis we have continued to support many of our counselling clients by telephone or via online platforms. We are, however, exploring the possibility of resuming some face to face sessions as early as July

Our Low-Cost Service is designed for people in difficult financial circumstances, on a low wage, or in receipt of benefits. It is largely staffed by trainee counsellors who are in their final years of study at a variety of universities and work under close supervision within the Service. Some are already qualified and are working towards a Master’s Degree or accreditation.
Mindfulness in Counselling
The benefits of Mindfulness can be explained by neuroscience research. Introducing it to your everyday life will enable you to start to make changes to the way you think and feel — with noticeable results.
Mindfulness can enhance the counselling process, increasing self-awareness in day- to-day interactions, stresses and anxieties. In this way being mindful can assist self- regulation of moods, feelings and thoughts to enable beneficial changes to be made.
The Referral Process
Deciding to see a counsellor is a huge step and trying to find the right professional for you can seem daunting. Navigating through the minefield of different approaches, such as Person-centred, Psychodynamic, Transactional analysis, Adlerian, CBT etc. can be confusing. At the Centre, we take time to understand your circumstances and what you are looking for so that we can match you with the counsellor who can best meet your individual needs.
The Service is an organisational member of the British Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BACP) and operates according to their guidelines. All team members hold current DBS (CRB) checks, professional liability insurance, and are all individual members of a professional governing body.
