Growing People has been running at The Sadie Centre since October 2006.

Previously a charity in its own right, Growing People in March 2022 became part of the Sadie Centre, providing social and therapeutic horticulture for people in Hertfordshire and the surrounding area who experience a wide range of mental health issues (from mild to severe and enduring).

Growing People’s mission is to provide distinctive and empowering social and therapeutic horticultural therapy for people with mental health issues in Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. Horticultural therapy has been shown to reduce stress and isolation and increase physical exercise and confidence. Read more about our work, our history and governance here:

The main aims are:

  • To improve the health and wellbeing of local people with health issues

  • To improve social inclusion for local people with mental health issues
