Joining the Team as an Experienced Counsellor or Psychotherapist

About The Sadie Centre

The Sadie Centre was founded in 1984 as a holistic and healing space for both clients and therapists.  It is committed to open dialogue, consultation and participation, and to maintaining high standards.  Our aim is to make therapy widely available to the public and we hold the clients' needs as the central focus.

We have ten comfortable counselling rooms varying in size, each with their own individual décor.  They extend over three floors with accessible rooms on the ground floor.  We have a reception which is staffed during our opening hours, a large car park and a vegetarian café onsite.

The Sadie Centre represents a holistic approach to life: an approach which opens minds to new ways of thinking and being in the world.  The Centre is about health promotion and illness prevention; about empowering people of all ages and backgrounds with tools and techniques to enable them to take responsibility for their own health.

Many of the therapists who join the team as trainee counsellors and psychotherapists on placement, stay on at the Centre afterwards offering counselling and psychotherapy at reasonable fees.

We welcome and are actively seeking experienced counsellors and psychotherapists who have considerable depth of experience and who resonate with The Sadie Centre’s aims and ethos, particularly those who are qualified to work with children & young people and/or with couples/families.

If you are interested in joining the team, please email us at counselling@sadiecentre.org with a CV and covering letter saying why you would like to join us.  You will hear from us within 14 days.

Joining the Team on a Placement as a Trainee Counsellor or Psychotherapist

Please note - We are not currently accepting Placement applications. Please contact us again in April 2024.

Placements at The Sadie Centre are available for trainee counsellors and psychotherapists who wish to practise in a holistic setting on a voluntary basis.  We are looking for people who resonate with the energy of the Centre and who can commit to a placement of at least a year, seeing three clients per week.

The placement will be supported by fortnightly individual supervision, which ensures a great depth of holding and learning.  We have supervisors who can offer supervision for the following modalities: psychodynamic, person-centred and integrative.

Trainees will not automatically be assured a position on the Counselling Team after qualification.  They are, however, expected and must commit to continue working with their current clients for three months under established and agreed arrangements.

Placement application procedure

Please send or email a relevant CV, with a covering letter, and a completed application form to placements@sadiecentre.org.

Please note that spaces are limited: we will keep all applications on file and notify appropriate applicants when a vacancy arises.
